About ai and depin
Key takeaways
- DePIN tokens pay people for real hardware; the AI side covers networks where models or software agents do the work.
- Four of the seven set their highs within three weeks of March 2024, while AI stocks were rallying.
- Revenue is still small next to market values, so prices lean heavily on expectations.
This theme puts two ideas side by side. DePIN, short for decentralised physical infrastructure networks, uses tokens to pay people for supplying real hardware: Render and Akash rent out spare GPU and server capacity, and Jasmy is built around people selling access to data from their own devices.
The AI side is about networks where models or software agents do the work, with Bittensor paying out TAO to machine-learning models that its network rates as useful and Fetch.ai building agents that transact on their own. Worldcoin sits slightly apart, as an identity project that scans irises to prove someone is a unique human.
Most of what moves these prices is news from outside crypto. Four of the seven set their all-time highs within the same three weeks of March 2024, Bittensor on the 7th, Worldcoin on the 9th, Render on the 17th and Fetch.ai on the 28th, while AI stocks were rallying hard.
On the latest snapshot
Right now 5 of the 7 AI and DePIN coins are in a discount zone. The median distance below an all-time high is 93%, and JasmyCoin leads on Bargain Score with 68 (snapshot 14 Oct, 02:00 BST).
That tells you how closely the group trades on the mainstream AI story rather than on its own usage numbers, and it is why the rallies have been fast and the falls fast too. By 10 October 2026 Worldcoin was 95% below its March 2024 high and Fetch.ai 93%.
Revenue on these networks is still small next to their market values, so prices lean heavily on expectations. Fetch.ai, Ocean Protocol and SingularityNET merged into the Artificial Superintelligence Alliance in 2024, which complicates their price histories. Worldcoin has faced regulators directly: Kenya suspended it in August 2023, and Spain's data protection authority ordered it to stop collecting iris scans in March 2024. Jasmy, at the other extreme, peaked in February 2021 and has spent most of the time since more than 95% below that level.

Many of these tokens are still being issued at a steady rate.
Many of these tokens are still being issued at a steady rate. Bittensor releases new TAO every day towards a 21 million cap and has only part of that supply in circulation, so the tokenomic quality score holds its Bargain Score back. Because most of the group peaked in 2024 rather than 2021, the time-since-high part of the distress score is also lower than for older coins with similar drawdowns.
You can see the liquidity gate at work on Ocean Protocol, which on 10 October 2026 traded about $55,000 in a day against a market value of about $35 million, far below the 1% the gate looks for, so its blended score was capped at 60 however deep its discount looked.
FAQ
Questions about ai and depin
Do AI tokens go up when AI company shares go up?
Often, though the link is loose and it works in both directions. The March 2024 peak lined up with a strong run in AI-related shares, and the group tends to react to big announcements from large AI companies even when those announcements have nothing to do with any blockchain. There is no mechanism tying the two together, though, and a token like Render earns from people renting GPUs through its network, and that business can grow or shrink independently of what happens to listed chipmakers.
So we would treat the correlation as a feature of market sentiment rather than of the projects, and it is one reason this theme moves in and out of the discount zones more abruptly than most.
What does DePIN mean?
Decentralised physical infrastructure networks. Instead of one company buying servers, antennas or sensors, a network pays tokens to lots of individuals who supply that hardware, and customers pay to use it. Akash and Render are the clearest examples on our list, both renting out compute capacity. The model only works if real customers pay enough to make the hardware worth running once token rewards fall, and that is still being tested.
Why does Worldcoin carry extra regulatory risk?
Worldcoin collects biometric data, which puts it under data protection law as well as financial rules. Several countries have paused or investigated its iris-scanning operations since its launch in July 2023, including Kenya and Spain, and any one of those decisions can cut off a market for new sign-ups, which are central to how the project hands out its token. None of that shows up in price-based measures until it has happened.
Is Fetch.ai still a separate coin?
Fetch.ai, Ocean Protocol and SingularityNET agreed in 2024 to merge their tokens into a single Artificial Superintelligence Alliance token, with FET as the base. How each coin is listed after a merger depends on the data provider, so we follow CoinGecko's current ID for each one, and the price history shown is the one CoinGecko holds for that ID.
We are careful about this because IDs do change underneath you. Jasmy is in this theme, and when we checked the old screener on 10 October 2026 its CoinGecko ID had moved from jasmy-coin to jasmycoin and the coin had quietly vanished from the list. Our refresh job now flags a retired ID on the run where it happens rather than dropping the coin.
